What is there in a reputation?

There is a lot in a reputation.A few days ago my elder brother sought
my advice on what is the harm in drinking occassionally. His wife,that
is,my sister in law didn't like that.I told them that the reputation
attached with it does more harm than the chemical itself.It is merely
a chemical but has earned a lot of bad reputation.Often the name of a
bad thing does more harm than the thing itself.Once it is known in the
society that a person drinks,it becomes difficult for him to refuse
when he is offered a drink.He needs to offer it to his friends. In
this way he is caught in a vicious circle.When a person is Amritdhari
it gets declared that he is a teetotaller.In this way Guruji saves him
from this vicious circle.
