Dealing with Verbal Violence

Verbal violence has not perhaps been adequately dealt with although it
too causes a lot of damage and suffering. There are several types of
verbal weapons. Some of them are as follows-
1-Verbal Boomrang-It is a verbal weapon which is thrown in one
direction but hits in another. The assailant is safe as he may plead
that he never addressed the victim. The victim wriggles in pain and
often is unable to hit back. While many may have this weapon in their
arsenal the old woman of Punjab are masters in using it.They may throw
it in the direction of a child or a dog and hit a white bearded man.
2-Verbal AK-47---A religious fanatic can use this assault weapon and
yet remain out of the reach of law.
3-Verbal grenade-They are high pitched screams and abuses which cause bruises.
Similarly there are verbal knives, verbal arrows, verbal swords etc.
4-Truth,honesty and Naam are protective shields in verbal battle.

Practising verbal non violence is important in order to practise
Nam.Losing a verbal battle is better than losing peace of mind and
Naam. However,I feel, resorting to the verbal weapons in extreme cases
and self defence remains within graceful limits.Even then,I feel,an
honest struggle is more important than victory.Perhaps that is a
better approach in order to remain spiritually healthy.
