Preserving advice in a knot - a thought

There was always a scope for a knot at the loose end of one's garment in the earlier times. Pocket was not in vogue. The ladies and gents used to keep valuable things and tie them with a knot in some part of their clothing. The process was called 'Palle bandna' (equivalent of pocketing something).

When some valuable advice is given, people often say, 'Is baat ko Palle Bandh lo' (preserve this advice safely with yourself like you preserve valuables in a knot at the loose end of your garment).

In the present times there is hardly any loose end of the garment that can be used for storing things.  But as my age is approaching 50 years, I wish to catch hold of the following advice with firmness;

1 - As the head of the family I should never lose my cool, come what may. There is an example amongst our relatives where the head of the family got so enraged that the bood rushed up into his head and caused a brain hemorrhage. He was around sixty years old. Although it is not entirely in one's control to keep the temperament under check but a senior person has only to lose by anger.

2 - While entering the evening phase of my life I must catch hold of 'Godly Virtues' with firmness and learn to let go the 'Worldly Things' with ease and grace.

{ Lord is the cause of causes. Catch hold of his virtuous name with firmness - Guru Arjun Dev }
