Reply to a woman suffering due to alcohol addiction of her husband

At Sikhnet a woman posted about her problems regarding the problem she was facing due to the alcohol addiction of her husband. Before marriage she knew that he drank. The reply given by me was as follows----
1--A few years ago There were about eight or nine girls sitting in my tuition class. We were having a talking break.I asked the girls casually if they would like to marry a turbaned(practisingSikh) or a clean shaven one.Pat came the reply clean shaven!,French cut! and what not.
2--Two gentlemen from the girl's side went to see the family of a prospective bridegroom. The proud father of the boy said ,''Munda kuch khanda ni Peenda ni''(The boy does not eat or drink anything)meaning he had no addictions. One of the gentleman mocked at the merit of the boy and told his friend,''Challo yaar kuree bhukhi maarni aa,Munda tan kuch khanda ni peenda ni''(O friend let us go.Do we wish to starve the girl as the boy neither eats nor drinks any thing.
3--At one occasion I witnessed the father of the girl telling the father of the boy who had sought marriage for his son,''Khanda ni Peenda ni!Ae koie qualification aa''(Does not eat does not drink! Is it a qualification?)Then he turned to the boy and said mockingly,''Khaya peeya kar oye!''(You should eat and drink man!)
3--My father in law got his youngest daughter maarried to a person who drunk. He was chatting with me and told,''Jeedae kol paisa houu ohi peeyu''(Only a person who can afford would drink)meaning he had no problems.
Now you knew it very well that the boy drunk. You also knew that alcohol leads to addiction. You made your choices and you are suffering.Only thing is that learn a lesson and be careful while arranging the marriages of your children.
